Mountains and Me
When I was about 7 years old my family took a trip out west to Yellowstone in an RV. We also went by the Grand Tetons. I was sleeping in the back of the RV and when I woke up, I looked out the window and saw mountains. From that day, I have always loved mountains. I especially liked the photo I used because it also features a river. |
Life on the Lake
This selfie has 3 different layers that are all different parts of Whitmore Lake. My family has lived there since before I was born and I have a strong connection with it. One of the layers is a landscape of the whole lake. The next layer is of the sand shallows that I've played in so many times. The final ones is a semi-weedy area where my brother and I fish at. |
Final Artist Statement:
These two photos are obviously similar in that they are selfies with nature photos super-imposed. Their main difference between them is that one is a double exposure and one is not. Also, the focal point in Life on the Lake was water and the focal point on Mountains and Me was a mountain. Life on the Lake is a much more personal photo than Mountains and Me because I know the background images on Life on the Lake very well. SO it makes sense that my face is more visible in Life on the Lake because I have been a part of that landscape.
